On March 16 at EU Info and Cultural Center in Pristina, Press Council of Kosovo launched the EU Award for Investigative Journalism in Kosovo.
Journalists, journalism students, civil society representatives, university professors and representatives of different institutions of Kosovo were present at this event.
Qerim Ondozi, National Coordinator in Kosovo, delivered a welcome speech and gave details regarding the contest announcement.
Samuel Zbogar, special representative of EU office in Kosovo and Nehat Islami, executive director of Press Council of Kosovo disclosed details of this award scheme.
Mr. Zbogar emphasized the fact that media in the region, including Kosovo, make efforts to develop investigative journalism - an important platform to reveal corruption, organized crime and other violations of human rights.
On the other hand, Nehat Islami said that investigative journalism is a reformer of society in cases where state and political forces have neither will nor courage to react against social phenomena, such as corruption, state capture and other anomalies of society.
The EU Award for Investigative Journalism was launched today, on March 16, 2015 and the call will be opened until April 15, 2015. For more information and other details related to application process, please visit Press Council of Kosovo website:
